Iris was my Fathers Mother born in 1923 in Watford England.  At the onset of hostilities Iris joined the Womens Royal Navy and became one of 5 specially qualified gunnery WRENS before meeting a handsome TAG gunner in the fleet Air Arm. 

 

Vera May was born in Sydney in 1927.  Vera married a young Airman at the end of the war and lived, worked and raised her family in the typical Australian way of her time.  There were always hot gem scones from the oven and plenty of hugs to go around.

 

These two remarkable women have inspired me on so many different levels throughout my life. Now they have both gone I take comfort in sharing their wisdom and feel priviliged to have known and loved them.
